The digital team is a team of six permanent staff with support from a long-term network of freelancers and other agencies. As a web developer based in the London office (E1), you will be primarily be involved in the production of new websites and making changes to existing ones. You will manage the build of the project from start to finish and be able to recommend the most appropriate technologies for the job. Whilst you may be primarily a front-end developer, you will ideally have the experience, or desire to learn, how to integrate it into a content management system.
Good experience of the following is essential:
- PHP – basic understanding to enable you to find your way around Wordpress theme or custom PHP website
- Taking designs from Photoshop or Sketch and producing high quality, cross-browser compliant, full responsive websites
Nice to have:
- Animation with either CSS or JS framework such as GSAP
- Git version control
The majority of our projects are built using the following CMS or frameworks, so experience of these is preferred :
- Static HTML sites
- Craft CMS
- Custom PHP applications (CakePHP, Symfony) - experience not essential but helpful
Agency experience is a big plus. A lot of our projects are quick-turnaround and our developers will often move back and forth to different projects throughout the week, as well as answer requests for changes to existing projects. Often it involves digging into another developer's code, so you will need to be confident enough to dive in and understand what is going on in a potentially complex website.
