Web Developer

Our client, a Fortune 500 athletic apparel and equipment company based in Portland, is looking for a web developer to join their team!

Utilizing your thorough knowledge of server-side and object oriented programming, you will work with a team of highly talented individuals to create and launch digital commerce solutions globally. With 4 brands and over 50 sites, your challenges (should you wish to accept this mission) will include building a scalable, distributed, component-based architecture that meets the needs of consumers across form factors and around the world. Built on top of Demandware’s SaaS Commerce engine we are looking for skills and ingenuity to help us tune and optimize our use of the platform as we continue to scale our business around it and our eco-system partners.


• Develop, test, deploy, and optimize eCommerce platform functionality utilizing knowledge of best practices in a Demandware environment
• Utilize a test driven development philosophy to build quality code base
• Write technical documentation related to processes and specifications
• Research & suggest emerging technologies with the goal of applying these technologies to current and future projects
• Work closely with Project Managers for setting project priorities
• Be effective and comfortable under minimum supervision
• Develop in an Agile environment and be flexible under special circumstances
• Have great communication skills and be comfortable working in a large Agile team with members from other development, design, and business groups
• Be comfortable in learning new technologies and methodologies


• 2+ years experience developing code in the Demandware platform
• 4-5 years experience in modern web standards HTML5 and CSS3
• Experience with modern CSS frameworks like Bootstrap and Foundation
• Experience in Responsive Design
• 4-5 years experience with JavaScript and jQuery
• Experience in web and mobile development best practices


• Experience in Modular CSS or Object Oriented CSS
• Experience using CSS preprocessors such as SASS, LESS, or STYLUS
• Experience with JavaScript pre-compilers like CoffeeScript and TypeScript
• Experience building your own JavaScript interactions (e.g. jQuery plugins)
• Experience with performance testing, load testing, security testing, and automated testing
• Experience with working in a distributed version control environment (Git / Mercurial)


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related work experience equivalent to a degree.
