One of our clients in Evanston is looking for a front end web developer for a 2-3 month contract, with the possibility for extension or to be brought on full time.

The Web Developer is responsible for all styling, interaction, and markup for digital communications and marketing. An experienced Web Developer has deep knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript especially in how these technologies enhance the user experience. This role is both production focused and client facing with an emphasis on creating and refining digital user experiences that advance engagement and participation goals.

DUTIES:
• Develops and maintains architecture for a suite of websites, microsites, and social apps including the social community.
• Builds web, email, and social design concepts and feature enhancements for digital properties;
• Develops and documents user interface components using scalable, production-ready code for user-facing features for multiple destinations.
• Recommends timely, researched, high-quality solutions and services for promotions;
• Stays current on new technologies and design trends.
• Determines best practices for Web user experience based on research and customer feedback;
• Collaborates with graphic design and tech teams to maintain efficient production processes;
• Leads the establishment and maintenance of coding standards to promote best practices;
• Mentors and instructs fellow team members with less experience;
• Partners with other departments to ensure proper online experience, consistency, and relevancy;

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required;
• Minimum of four years of Web development experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks, especially jQuery, Prototype, and other micro-frameworks;
• Experience designing, coding, and deploying applications in a cross-platform environment;
• Experience with developing and integrating social media platforms, mobile applications, and/or Web content management systems preferred.

SKILLS REQUIRED
• Strong collaboration skills
• Latest technologies specifically HTML5, CSS2/3, JavaScript and related libraries, Web typography;
• Understands the application of and demonstrates expert knowledge of: HTML, CSS, JavaScript;
• Advanced experience with Adobe software, such as Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, and InDesign;
• Strong working knowledge of current HTML and CSS coding practices, W3C guidelines;
• Understands the features and limitations of various content management solutions, mobile platforms, social media channels, various browsers and the Web in general;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in a fast-paced environment
