Web Designer needed with HTML5 and CSS3 skills!

Higher education institution seeks a motivated and energetic Web Designer for its web team. The Web Designer will design websites that closely adhere to and promote the organization's brand and visual identity. The Web Designer will be responsible for front-end development (HTML5/CSS3) on the main website.

The Web Designer will perform roles in planning and guiding design work for the main website, academic websites, administrative websites, and other affiliated websites. Design work and direction always considers evolving mobile, tablet, and computer viewports and usage patterns. Research experience is critical so that data and information gathering about the website’s primary audience can serve as the basis of redesigns.

The Web Designer will also be called on to work with peers and consultants to define website content, layout, and information architecture. The Web Designer has a prominent role in marketing, both in the graphical design of the organization's website and its elements but also related technologies and areas such as e-mail marketing and branding. The Web Designer also oversees and manages the WordPress system and performs roles with account, plugin, and widget management and is responsible for long-term theme enhancements and improvements as determined by evolving organizational needs.

Project management skills and the ability to complete projects involving numerous stakeholders are necessary. The successful candidate will need the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. On larger initiatives (such as website redesigns) the Web Designer will also be called on to work with peers and consultants to define website technology needs and implement to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Website Oversight
- Designs and develops pages as directed and as needed.
- Design and Branding Direction
- Ensures that the visual presentation, layout, and content of websites reflects and enhances the overall branding, visual identity practices, and marketing plan of the organization.
- Provides wireframes and mock-ups in the early stages of new website projects.
- Works with vendors and coordinates with copywriters and other graphics peers to create images, icons, banners, content, etc. as needed.
- Creates and follows through on project scoping to outline milestones and deliverables to peers and customers.
- Meets with clients (and other stakeholders) to make recommendations.
- Responsible for design advising to continually improve organization's websites; this includes advising of web leadership/peers as well as customers.
