Role: Web Content Editor
Length: Up to June 2013 with annual renewals
Salary: £25-30K

Manager is seeking a strong Video Website Editor who will focus on promoting video content to users of a global technology and entertainment client's UK site. They will get to know its partners and content intimately and work closely with the Homepage teams to source, promote and feature timely videos, in support of the client’s best of now positioning. They will actively promote video content on social media sites and write blog posts about trending videos, daily. You will need a knowledge content management systems common in online video and the desire to learn within the role. With training, you should also be comfortable in stepping up to work alongside the video production team as a second camera person, where required. Knowledge of Canon D5 cameras and the Adobe Premier editing package would be an advantage.

You will need to understand the different formats and delivery methods of web video and be able to have a constructive conversation around this.

The four key skills required are:
- Proven Editorial background
- Willingness to work with other teams to upload video content accurately and quickly
- Broad technical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot
- Willingness to learn and an interest in shooting/editing video

You will be working in a small team of 5, within the wider editorial team.
There will be a 2 stage interview process

Overview

• Using your passion, your role is to deliver a timely, exciting and different experience every day to the client’s users, in support of their ‘Best of Now’ positioning.
• You will have a good understanding of the internet, online video and social media and know how to grow audience using various media at your disposal.
• You will work proactively with the client’s homepage team to ensure that the video content is promoted at every possible opportunity.
• You will work with our existing content and service partners to drive users into the channels and deliver return on investment by ensuring they are properly represented on the homepage and on all our channels.
• You will need excellent writing, copy, image and video editing skills and good experience of using web content management systems and photo and video editing software.
• You will anage an annual, monthly and weekly plan to deliver timely and bespoke events.
• Use internal tracking and stats tools to ensure we hit our targets each month.
• Monitor users’ feedback and, wherever appropriate, act on them.

Responsibilities

• Achieve the following targets for FY13: Short form: 18m video streams per month / 9m ad pre-rolls per month
• Content: Be across all video content coming in from partner sources.
• Content: Work with our existing content and service partners to source, develop and promote market leading content and services.
• Channel Management: Maintain the video editorial placements across the site accurately and adhere to editorial guidelines and standards.
• NEP: Proactively feed timely video content through to the Network Entry Points (NEP) team and respond to their daily requests.
• Social Media: Regularly engage the client’s users.
• Blogging: Submit one or more trending video blogs a day to NEP.
• Content Packaging: Editorialise short form content packages and proactively invent new content packages for NEP promotion.
• Content Upload: Upload video content for channels as required and manually add ‘Exclusive’ bumpers to content using Adobe Premiere when needed, (they can train).
• Original Production: Assist wider team with the production, shooting, editing and ingestion of original videos when needed, to a high quality. Promote original content to NEP. May be required to assist with the production of podcasts where necessary.
• Live Streaming: Become trained and fluent in the use of live streaming video equipment and processes to help produce live streaming videos through Skype and live stream solutions.
• SEO: All bespoke creations must adhere to SEO guidelines.
• Traffic Analysis and Reporting: Monitor traffic performance via Video Cubes to make necessary editorial decisions and report daily to the wider team on progress against video targets.
• Monetisation: Monitor performance of pre-roll ads against NEP target and feedback to wider team and ads team to ensure effective monetisation of streams.
• Cross Channel Support: Support a team of Editors across all channels to ensure video is promoted effectively.
• Channel Verticals: Proactively work with Channel Managers to ensure that video is integrated into each channel proposition and that best practice is adhered to.
• Partner Management: Proactively maintain regular contact with content partners to ensure the very best content is made available to Video. Assist Video Content Manager with partner development, execution, on-boarding and management. Help maintain the Exclusives relationship by monitoring content and promotion.
• PR: Help filter and liaise with external PR companies.
• Distribution: Responsible for product’s distribution through channels, homepage and external sites.
• Event Building: Contribute to an annual, monthly and weekly plan to deliver timely coverage of entertainment news and bespoke events.
• Long Term Strategy: Work with Video Managing Editor to deliver a long-term channel strategy and monitor and report back to the team on industry developments.
• Revenue: Working with the Content Manager, monitor performance of paid campaigns to ensure they deliver the required number of ad impressions and video streams.

Basic Experience Required: Editing experience required. Strong writing, editing, project management, communication and organization skills required. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work as part of a team. Bachelor''s degree in Journalism, English or a field related to the subject area in which they will be working is required.
