Web Accessibility Subject Matter Expert

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Web Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Digital team. This position will support multiple Agile development teams in a highly collaborative environment, remediate existing web applications and redesign projects, provide guidance for wireframes, design comps, mark-up and code examples, as well as provide detailed business requirements to guide accessible Web practices.

Role Responsibilities:
- Work with internal design and development teams to create and develop accessible Web sites and applications
- Conduct Web accessibility code reviews, and support internal teams with accessibility ‘how to’ support
- Identify and communicate Web accessibility best practices for Web design and development
- Support Web Governance Manager in developing Web accessibility practices and process for internally and externally developed Web properties

Skill Requirements:
- Web Accessibility Standards: Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA success criteria and modern progressive enhancement design and development practices; Experience with Mobile Web and application (iOS & Android) accessibility practices
-Design & Development: Expert knowledge of Web technologies (X/HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), as well as Object Oriented JavaScript frameworks (particularly jQuery and jQuery UI); Experience with accessible Adobe Flash / Flex design and development; Experience with Apache / PHP and Java Portal development environments; Familiarity with Agile development practices
- Web Accessibility Tools: Expert knowledge of assistive technology (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and Dragon NaturallySpeaking); Experience with enterprise-level Web accessibility monitoring tools such as Deque Worldspace / FireEyes and SSB Bart AMP; Familiarity with Persona-driven User Centered Design practices

Preferred Requirements:
- Familiarity with business processes such as Lean or Six Sigma
- Experience with Microsoft Visio process flow charts and PowerPoint presentations

Experience & Education
- 3+ years experience in designing and developing accessible Web experiences
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
