Visual UI Designer

Our cyber security client that just received 100 million from Google and now they need a User-Interface Designer. We’re looking for a senior designer who has a detailed eye for Scifi inspired UIs . This is a senior role for someone who has experience in heavy data-based user interfaces. / web applications. Thus, someone with a portfolio of just websites won’t cut it (e.g. commercial, marketing, publishing). We would like this designer to be onsite, preferably in the Irvine, CA office, but we are open to El Segundo or remote candidates as well.

Job Description:
Your role is to own the consistent visual treatment of components, optimising visual usability and maintaining product brand. Create visual hierarchies, enforce gestalt principles and define the product’s visual language. Work on detailed icon, layout, color, typography, copy, and illustration design. You'll be working closely with UI engineers on expanding and improving our living style guide & defining animations to help bring complex data to life. Sketch & mockup information hierarchies to communicate user models and workflows You'll be working as part of a team and assist Product Managers and UX Designers with UX workflows, prototype building and user testing.

Responsibilities:
--Sweat the small details that communicate quality and craftsmanship
--Produce high-quality visual designs from concept to execution iteratively
--Craft and curate a product’s visual design language and communicate it using written, graphical, and a coded style guide.
--Collaborate with the Marketing team to define and maintain the brand’s look and feel and ensure all creative broadcast across all channels lives up to the highest quality of the company’s visual standards
--Work with UI Engineers to produce illustrations, icons, diagrams, templates, and style guide edits


Requirements:
--Strong portfolio demonstrating user experience knowledge and clean visual design sense
--Solid visual design expertise in: Typography, layout, color, and brand systems.
--Demonstrated mastery in the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, proportion, emphasis, and unity
--BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or commensurate experience
--Enthusiasm for an iterative design process, driven by group critique
--Deep understanding of information design, gestalt principles, and the human visual-cognitive system
--Technical understanding of interface design in an Agile development environment
--Experience in Sketch, Illustrator, and/or Photoshop.

Bonus:
--Icon design and illustration
--Craft micro-interactions to delight users
--Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and can contribute to a living style guide
--Prototype in Pixate, Framer.js, AfterEffects, or other prototyping tools
--Comfortable with Git version control workflows

Portfolio should include:
Pen/paper sketches and ideations
Wireframes
Interactive mockups using modern tools: Framer.js, UXPin, Pixate, Invision, Principle, Proto.io, etc…
Workflow diagrams
Information architecture diagrams
User case studies
User research
Personas
Polished data visualizations
Polished pixel perfect mockups
