VFX Designer

The VFX Designer will create visually engaging motion graphics and animations that will bring to life dynamic environments for the media platform. This position will work closely with our Creative Director and design team to concept, prototype,create, test, and integrate high quality visual effects into a digital media environment. You must have expertise in creating textures, sprites, and geometry needed for visual effects of all kinds and should be well-versed in VFX related tooling.  This position will be testing design ideas and assumptions, and validating prototype mockups to help deliver a best-in-class media experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Render both realistic and stylized looking VFX using multiple engine technologies.
Maintain expert knowledge of production software, and the workflows needed to create real-time VFX.
Develop tools and processes to support the VFX pipeline.
Resolve VFX development issues with engineers and technical artists.
Report progress to production, and ensure production VFX assets are in source control.
When necessary, adapt to create VFX for proprietary platforms.
Learn new industry techniques, technology, and traditional art methods.
Other duties may be assigned to accomplish company or brand objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Mobile and tablet app design for iOS, and Android platforms 
Supported development of an animated film/television project.
Familiar with multiple areas of VFX production including 2D imagery, 3D VFX, particle systems, sprite creation, UI VFX, lighting, or shaders.
Strong artistic sensibility, design, and composition skills
Gathering and assessing business requirements from product and segment representatives.
Creating early conceptual designs, demonstrating innovation. 
Knowledge and experience developing cohesive brand experiences by creating and maintaining a  style guide.
Experience working within an Agile project methodology a plus.
Animation experience – must have an eye for engaging visuals, and they have experience creating high-quality images. They understand motion, animation, scaling, and timing.
Video production – must understand the technical aspects of video production, such as staging, sound, and lighting.
Computer proficiency – must be comfortable using computer tools and software to create visual effects or to enhance their work.
Communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively and discuss needs for projects and work with others to ensure goals are met and that the final product is satisfactory.
Time management – must be able to juggle deadlines and projects. Their time management skills help them maintain a clear and consistent schedule.

EDUCATION:


2+ years creating visual effects for entertainment media
Proficient in Photoshop, After Effects, and Maya
Expertise with Adobe After Effects is strongly preferred
