User Researcher - Medical Device

As part of the User Experience Design (UXD) team, the User Researcher will work with multi-disciplinary teams to plan and conduct user research, conduct usability studies and drive user-centric design practices across projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of usability evaluations at various stages of product development, with a background in user research. He or she will have experience with effectively negotiating interactions with various stake holders.

Major goals include: developing user research plans, planning, coordinating and moderating usability studies, documenting and presenting research findings and design recommendations. This position is extremely collaborative, and requires a high degree of social savvy, professionalism, and empathy for the end users and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities
• Manage all aspects of user research, usability studies, simulated user validation studies
• Design user experiments that include collection and analysis of data
• Document and present research results and design recommendations to stake-holders
• Advise the project teams when to involve user research and testing
• Collaborate with key product stakeholders to understand and support product design goals for existing and new products, and to ensure those goals are supported in the solution design
Work with UXD team to plan usability tests, develop success criteria, analyze results and provide recommendations in accordance with FDA and other regulatory guidance (where applicable)
Desired Skills
• Ability to focus on the user’s needs
• Knowledge of interaction design/user-centered design principles
• Some experience with statistical analysis of user research
• Working knowledge of documentation tool for specification documents
• Ability to work independently and efficiently on complex projects
• Ability to deliver high quality work on tight schedules


Qualifications
• 7 years of design experience with a demonstrated track record of success in designing complex systems in a fast paced, collaborative environment
• Experienced in healthcare highly desired with FDA experience in product design and development, including hardware and software
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Able to interact effectively with product and development teams, fostering strong relationships

Education/Credentials:
• BA/BS with focus in user-centered design, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or Interaction Design preferred
