User Interface Designer

0 people like this description

Our healthcare client believes the user's experience should be intuitive, usable and delightful throughout. To enable this, the user interface must take a huge role in promoting the overall experience. Not only should the UI be beautiful and functional, we believe it should be designed with proven & tested interaction and visual patterns. These beliefs create an environment where everyone that touches our products is able to thrive — from design to development, sales to operations, stakeholders to our users – the people.

We’re a well-funded health care startup based in beautiful Portland, Oregon and we’re about to launch our product nationwide. Our software platform is poised to transform the way people experience health care. We’re looking for a passionate person who loves to work with user researchers, UX designers, product owners and other stakeholders within a small, energetic team.

Each of us are driven and have a common goal to produce a quality product that can eventually push a behavioral change and make health care easier to navigate. We even manage to have a lot of fun while we’re at it! We’re looking for an exceptional designer who believes the best products come from a blend of user understanding, technology, and design. We foster this by combining development and design into one cohesive team. This enables engineers to have a voice from the concept phases and designers to shape a project as we iterate along the product lifecycle. We actively practice Lean Startup methodologies and User-Centered Design principles. We prototype and test everything we design before it’s built, and we’re always improving on existing features along the way. Lastly, there’s and awesome opportunity to participate in user interviews and user testing sessions to watch our users interact with your designs!

The ideal candidate:
Has a strong understanding of UX, user interface, and interaction design, solving difficult challenges through interface. The job is primarily about solving problems, not just pushing pixels.
Is an experienced and talented visual designer (web and application design a must!), able to work within an established aesthetic but also help to evolve it.

Has an understanding of modern web technologies — you won’t be coding much HTML/CSS/JS unless you really want to, but it’s important to know how the pieces fit together and what is/isn’t possible. Design for development feasibility is key.
Mobile and responsive web design knowledge is important.
Collaborates well and solicits feedback.
Has a positive attitude and wants to work on something that they’ll take a lot of personal pride in.
Highly proficient in visual design and wireframing software such as: Adobe Creative Suite, Omnigraffle, Basalmiq, Sketch, etc..
Ideally a mid to senior level position  — we’re a very small design team and you’ll be able to grow along with us.
Ability to work with and help create a design and interaction pattern library with specifications and style guidelines.
Ability to create low/high fidelity wireframes and mockups.
Ability to translate designs into interactive prototypes a plus!
