User Experience Taxonomist

Responsibilities
• Establish a formal and sustainable taxonomy practice within the organization
• Create an enterprise taxonomy (controlled vocabulary and organization structure)
– Work may include analyzing search logs; working with business and SEO analysts; and conducting competitive analysis, content audits, and user research
• Work with technical, product, and business teams to develop metadata schema for web pages, digital assets, and content fragments
• Assess functionality of tagging capabilities in Adobe CQ5 and, if needed, research and define requirements for additional taxonomy management software
• Provide input on the creation of tagging workflows
• Guide content creators/taggers on application of taxonomy and terms, and monitor to ensure assets are tagged correctly
• Develop and document process for ongoing taxonomy maintenance

Deliverables
• Scope document outlining key activities and milestones for taxonomy development
• Controlled vocabulary and recommended organization structure (e.g., synonym ring, hierarchy, thesaurus)
• Metadata schema for web pages, digital assets, and content fragments
• Assessment of existing taxonomy tools and (if needed) requirements for taxonomy management software
• Documentation of processes for managing and updating taxonomy as well as monitoring to ensure assets are tagged correctly
• Format/agenda for Taxonomy Governance Board meetings
• Training documentation for content creators/taggers

Qualifications
• Masters in Library and Information Sciences or Information Management, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience developing controlled vocabularies or other systems for classification, information retrieval, or asset management
• Deep understanding of the application of taxonomy and metadata for content and digital asset management
• Experience working with content management systems and digital asset managers
• Ability to solicit stakeholder input via interactive workshops, interviews, or other methods
• Ability to analyze website metrics and customer behavior data to make intelligent decisions about taxonomy structures and terms
