User Experience Researcher

The eBusiness User Experience team at our large financial services client in Hartford is seeking a User Experience Researcher to help inform the evolution of the company’s digital experience. This is a TEMP TO PERM opportunity.

- The individual will be responsible for performing end-user research to inform project decision-making, working closely with other designers and researchers, as well as product management, engineering, and executives.

- Your work will help business partners and designers better understand user goals, needs, behaviors, limitations, preferences, as well as provide rationale for design decisions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan, conduct, analyze and report out on a broad range of user research studies, most importantly iterative and summative usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), as well as field studies, participatory design, expert/heuristic evaluations, competitive testing, and beyond.

- Translate research insights and metrics, including research from other sources, into actionable recommendations that inform design and business strategy.

- Collaborate with and understand the value of other research partners (such as analytics and marketing research) to synthesize and leverage existing data and coordinate research efforts.

- Effectively use research to set direction and refine designs through their evolution.

- Collaborate and provide directional oversight with fellow researchers to constantly refine research methods and best-practices.

- Understand different form factors (smartphone, tablet, desktop) and how to appropriately research for them.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- 5+ years experience in user research, user interface design, usability testing, human factors, or other related disciplines within a consultative or corporate environment. Typical incumbent experience level 8+ years.

- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, or related field. Master's Degree or PhD is a plus.

- The ability to clearly communicate and explain research approaches and recommendations.

- Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.

- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing a consistently high level of attention to detail.

- Experience working with agile methods.

- Portfolio of research artifacts that reflect your experience and skill in research planning, execution, and analysis.
