User Experience Research Assistant

Aquent's client, a large tech company headquartered in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a User Experience Research Assistant for a 6–month assignment in the San Bruno offices.

This client that is passionately interested in users and strive to learn everything they can about their goals and needs, attitudes and emotions to help define the products and experiences they create. In this assignment, you will be working with a User Experience team that is a critical driving force behind gathering these insights and then using them to inspire and inform design. They are a multi-disciplinary team of interaction designers, visual designers, user researchers, copywriters and web developers who collaborate closely with each other and with Engineering and Product Management to create innovative, usable, great-looking products that people love to use.

As a Research Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to support research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed products. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with user testing preparation activities.
2. Observing/running usability testing sessions, and taking notes.
3. Administering questionnaires, surveys, and interviews.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Assisting with research activities for children and families.
* Analyzing and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data.
* Creating findings and recommendation reports from user studies.
* Creating highlight videos/screenshots.

Required Qualifications:
* M.A./M.S. (in progress or completed) in Technical Communication, Cognitive Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior
* Minimum 0-1 years experience and/or interest in general research and/or user research methods
* Excellent observation and note-taking skills
* Detailed oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Can work independently and prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
* Technical aptitude, familiarity with basic graphic and video editing tools preferred
* Complete a criminal background check required for working with children
