User Experience Designer II

Based in Seattle, Washington, you will be on the ground floor of a team driving the next round of international expansion for my client.
My client has a long record of growth and success in non-US geographies. Since launching its first European websites in 1998, my client has grown into a global leader in e-commerce, with customer-facing websites selling physical goods in five European countries, plus Japan, China, India, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. The company also manages a substantial cross-border business, serving customers in more than 100 countries every month with exports from our current websites. As a UX Designer on the Country Expansion team, you should be at ease creating scenarios, sketches, story boards, wire-frames, mock-ups and prototypes. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to visualize an experience in the abstract, break down complex use-cases and then be able to drive the vision into solid design deliverables. For our next phase of country expansion, the company is creating a new team to approach the next set of attractive geographies for international expansion. This team will be expected to combine lessons learned from past country launches with new technologies in order to accelerate our ability to address customers in emerging geographies.

Responsibilities:
Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, usability findings, and following the user-centered design process
Use business requirements and market research to develop scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiences
Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, detailed visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns
Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and executives for review and feedback
Work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate with designers to achieve holistic objectives
Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values
Scope design initiatives and own track work queue

Basic Qualifications
5 to 8 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role
Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions is a requirement for application
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
Ability to multi-task and have a bias for action in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment
Effectiveness in working across organizational boundaries
Ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently
Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
Familiarity with the technical considerations needed when designing for the web
Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, or equivalent
Ability to creative interactive prototypes
A clean sense of design aesthetics, and a natural propensity towards simplification over complication
Ability and passion to design for a foreign context

Preferred Qualifications
Mobile Design Experience
Ability to prototype with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
Retail/E-commerce design experience in a global context
Experience working with international teams
Multilingualism
Axure experience desirable but willingness to learn is acceptable.

6 months. If the candidate is the right fit and there is an open headcount, FTE is a possibility.

International exposure a strong plus.
