User Experience Designer II

Do you want to help grow one of our eCommerce client's newest strategic initiatives? Their Campus team is a new program focused on engaging and acquiring college student customers through direct collaboration with universities. In 2015, they became the official bookstore of Purdue and UMass – Amherst and launched their first physical locations on both campuses. Since then, they have opened locations at UC Berkeley and other colleges around the United States, and are still growing.

The Campus team is seeking a User Experience Design contractor to own and design innovative, stunning, memorable, and effective experiences across all devices. You have an inventor’s spirit, highly refined aesthetic sensibilities and a fine-tuned ability to communicate effectively to their student customers. You are energized by solving big interesting problems, and eager to dig into data that informs your design decisions. You’ll collaborate with other UX Designers, Product Managers, and Developers to invent and iterate on experiences that start and end with their student customer base. You'll exhibit creative leadership to gather customer and business requirements, introduce new ideas, challenge and be challenged, and craft a long-term vision. The ideal candidate will be passionately customer-centric and have a deep portfolio that demonstrates versatility and excellence in bringing experiences to life across all customer touchpoints.



Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Graphic Design, HCD or equivalent, or 5+ years professional experience in UX Design or related field
• A portfolio that shows your thought process through examples of compelling mobile and web design
• Demonstrated working knowledge of UX (user task and goal identification, process flows, wireframes) and Visual Design
• Experience using Sketch, Photoshop, or similar tools
• Strong knowledge of HCD principles
• Strong attention to detail

Nice-to-have’s:
• Experience or training in Lean UX and the Agile process
• Experience with large-scale retail, e-commerce, enterprise applications, or tech companies
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
• Demonstrated business acumen, including experience measuring and calibrating the impact of your work against key business and customer experience goals
• Ability to scope design initiatives accurately and prioritize competing work items appropriately
• Demonstrated ability to lead or self-initiate projects, and execute them with excellent time management and project management skills
• Experience learning from, teaching and mentoring others
• Experience in copywriting or copyediting
