User Experience Architect

The User Experience Architect plays an integral role in the development of our client’s web sites. The Senior EA will work closely with all in-house teams involved in the web development process. The UXA will contribute to the planning process of a web site by organizing information, developing web site architectures, documenting use case scenarios, and developing labeling/search systems.

Responsibilities:
Reviewing research on competitive web sites, existing web initiatives, past web projects, and consumer research
Synthesize research findings to aid the project team developing the web site architecture
Collaborating with / facilitating project team members and clients to develop organizational / structural concepts for web site projects
Translating these concepts into effective information architectures
Developing plans that production teams can use to help guide their work
Collaborating on the development of labeling searching systems
Preparing EA documentation (site architectures, wire frames, use cases and task flows, etc.) to be used by the production team
Ensuring EA documentation is continuously updated and distributed to the production team
Identifying and implementing opportunities to refine EA process
Providing guidance, leadership and support to other information architects and to project teams at large

Required Skills:
Related industry experience in new media, communications, or library science
Internet experience within the areas of information architecture or project management is an asset
A demonstrated understanding of / commitment to a career in information architecture
Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving
An understanding of / experience with
Development of organizational / structural concepts for web sites
Processes for the development of large scale web site projects
Documentation requirements for web development teams (including applications and web development groups)
Experience working within multidisciplinary and collaborative environments
Experience applying research and analysis to site development
Effective communication skills, both orally and in a variety of written forms
Team player with effective interpersonal skills
Thorough, detail-oriented and highly organized
Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Self-motivated and dedicated with a desire to learn
Highly proficient in the use of MS Office, Visio and Internet browsers
Individuals with varied backgrounds and unique personal and work experiences will thrive in an information architecture role

Desired Skills:
Experience with one of either:
Software Development Process / Business Analysis (specifically use case development and methodology)
Usability Practices / Testing
IA development for sites employing personalization
Proven client relations skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred with multidisciplinary backgrounds such as psychology, computer science, information sciences, commerce/business
