Global Financial Services Digital Strategy & Design team is seeking an experienced Human Factors/Usability Lead with strong research skills to manage a variety of projects for the advisor-facing platform experience for Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.
This is a leadership role with high touch involvement with the brokerage line of business partners as well as with the core technology partners in the Financial Firm in creating the advisor-facing experiences for the Wealth Management Workstation and other online tools.
This Human Factors/Usability Lead role leads efforts dedicated to providing research for User-Centered design methodologies in support of Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management product & tool offerings.
The Human Factors/Usability Lead utilizes a wide variety of research techniques including heuristic analyses, usability testing, contextual inquiry, informal focus groups and design walkthroughs.
*10% of responsibilities will be allocated to UX –related work
*90% of responsibilities will be allocated to the facilitation of, and research pertaining to, end user testing groups and sessions. Results and reports from sessions will be relayed to design team.
**This is not a technical position and not looking for an Interaction Designer, however, that experience is necessary in order to efficiently perform user testing groups and to accurately relay results.**
•The ideal candidate will be a user need/goal evangelist and must be comfortable managing a diverse portfolio of research.
•The right candidate must demonstrate experience in managing multiple interconnected initiatives while still seeing the big picture and moving towards the target state.
•Requirements include strong knowledge of financial services as well as research techniques appropriate for technology product development.
•Experience: 3 years experience within usability testing and usability research, preferably within financial/banking or similar environment
•- Gathering and analyzing end user data
- Persona development
- Understanding and documenting user needs and goals
- Developing research plans, conducting performance-based usability test and design walkthroughs, and reporting outcomes
- Carrying out expert reviews and/or heuristic evaluations
- Conducting remote usability studies and card sorts
Specific responsibilities will include user research planning and execution, persona development, and user needs identification. The Usability Engineer must also be prepared to offer consulting support to application business owners as they identify requirements for new designs, create proposed solutions and suggest methods for optimizing existing content/information.
