Usability Researcher

We’re looking for a passionate researcher to join our team in Seattle working on a new product experience on multiple hardware and software platforms. Ideal candidates must be curious about human behavior and exhibit creativity in approaching research design, must be comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, and must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct user-centered research and evaluations of existing designs and design concepts, leveraging a multitude of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. observation, interviews, journals, video ethnography, surveys, lab studies, instrumentation)
- Distill qualitative and quantitative data (primary and secondary research) into consumable, compelling and actionable results;
- Work with people and teams across Skype to understand product plans and identify information gaps and needs;
- Exercise independent judgement in development of study methodology, data collection efforts, data analysis, conclusions, and design recommendations.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Advanced degree in behavioral or social sciences, including HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Social Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience;
- Passionate about observing and understanding human behavior;
- Possess working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods;
- Ability to work independently and excel in a dynamic, cross-functional, geographically distributed team environment;
- Ability to condense complex ideas into succinct thoughts and impactful storytelling.
