UX/Web Designer

We're looking for a UX/Web Designer experienced with presentation layer development and a user-centered design to help develop our client's digital product interfaces reporting to the Director, User Experience Design.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with other Designers in design efforts
• Understand and implement new technologies and best-practices
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business, content and data requirements
• Produce sketches, wire-frames and prototypes to communicate interface ideas and interactions
• Write efficient, standards-based HTML, CSS and JavaScript

Skills
• Self-motivated with excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of the latest front-end technologies, specifically HTML5, SASS, CSS3 and jQuery
• Experience with responsive web design. Familiarity with Zurb's Foundation framework a bonus
• Detailed oriented with a passion for making things easier to use
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge of accessibility best-practices, 508c compliance a bonus

Experience
• A bachelor's degree in interaction design, industrial design, visual design, HCI, or a related field is preferred. Experience in the field will be considered in place of a degree if accompanied by at least 5 years of experience and a strong portfolio showing a great sense of design, creativity, and good communication skills.

2. ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
• Develop functional web interfaces, using HTML, CSS, jQuery and other technologies (as needed)
• Use CSS3 to implement responsive designs that work across multiple devices and platforms
• Create wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes to communicate ideas
• Write efficient, standards-based HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Maintain legacy sites and email newsletters, sometimes with non-standard mark-up

3. DECISION RIGHTS:
• Suggest best interface solutions to implement collaborating with IT developers based on requirements and features development
• Implementing best practices for the user interface.
• Implementing best practices for use of XHTML and CSS.

4. PERFORMANCE MEASURES: (related to the accountabilities listed above)
• Creating interfaces that are easy to understand, learn and use.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and jQuery
• Meeting deadlines.
• Following project directives and incorporating feedback from supervisor.
• Proactively learning about our content and how customers use it.
• Actively contributing in team meetings.
• Self motivated and proactive team player.
