A mobile first, TV device company in the South Bay area is looking for a UI/UX Design contractor to join their team!

The Senior UI/UX Designer for the Mobile Applications will work with Product Management to translate product requirements into a progressive, forward-thinking user experience and interface. The ideal candidate will be responsible driving the design of features for the phone and tablet apps from start to finish – from conceptualization, to wireframing, to UI design, and spec creation.

The Design team is a collaborative environment allowing for growth and shared ownership of design through all phases of design process and across all products.

Responsibilities:

•Drive UI and UX design of the Mobile Application product.
•Work with Design Team and Product Owner to conceptualize and realize new features to provide a targeted, guided user experience.
•Coordinate and collaborate with Design Team to help ensure consistency across the family of products.
•Share and take part in work cross-product when necessary, to promote cross-product visibility within the team.
•Work directly with Engineering, and other internal clients to ensure features are built to spec, while promoting design thinking and understanding throughout the company.
•Present work to the team and exec level staff to sell work and build buy-in for your ideas across an organization of very bright, opinionated colleagues.
•Write design specifications and ensure that we implement these specifications through the development cycle and delivery.

Qualifications:

•BFA–MA in graphic design, visual communication design, new media, or professional equivalent.
•Design visionary with 7 or more years of visual, UI, and UX design across the Web, software, mobile, and TV experiences (or some sub-set, with TV experience highly desirable). Consumer electronic product experience is a huge plus, such as set-top boxes, smart phones, or other hand-held devices.
•Excellent intuition for usability and design, with an ability to balance creativity with the practical constraints of timing, budget, and scope inherent in the business world.
•A strong portfolio with at least 2 projects demonstrating process (conceptualization thru realization).
•Experience designing for mobile and tablet applications.
•A user-centered approach to design.
•Emotionally intelligent, optimistic, visionary, entrepreneurial, candid, and results oriented.
•Ability to multi-task in startup and maturing business environments.
•Decisive and effective at issue tracking and resolution.
•Solid interpersonal skills.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience presenting and selling ideas to clients, product teams and stakeholders.

Bonus Points:

•Experience working in an Agile and/or cross-functional environment.
•Practical knowledge of Web, iOS, and/or android development.
•Digital prototyping skills a huge plus.
•Product design experience and domain knowledge.

The Fan TV Designer:

•Is passionate about, has strong convictions on, and is knowledgeable of current design patterns and trends.
•Is genuinely curious and interested in creating unique yet appropriate user experiences.
•Demonstrates an impeccable attention to detail – can create and communicate logical and meaningful user experiences at a macro-level, while still striving for perfection down to the pixel.
•Recognizes and has a thorough understanding of the relationship between UX, UI, and visual design.
•Places less emphasis on role specifics, and does not hesitate to roll up their sleeves to do what it takes to deliver.
•Is collaborative and creative, but can deliver on their own at all phases of design.
•Promotes forward thinking in brainstorming – asks “what if?” rather than just saying “no” – considers and progresses ideas rather than shooting them down.
•Thrives as a part of an immersive, collaborative, user-centered design team and works as a member of a team (a “We", not “I” attitude).
•Plays a part in every step of realizing their design vision – from start to finish (conceptualization, wire framing, mocks/comps/reviews, finalizing design, and creating assets).
