UX/Interaction Designer

Interaction designers are responsible for taking a design through it’s lifecycle. This includes coming up with multiple ideas and concepts for a problem, identifying the best solution based on product capabilities and business needs, with the highest focus on user experience and design. This role will involve putting together a structure for the product, creating frameworks for the designs, and also designing the necessary components and assets. The role will be a mix of Visual design and UX Architecture, and the candidate must have the ability to move from paper sketches to pixel-perfect, production ready designs as needed.


An individual within the UX Sears interaction design discipline will be called upon to:
• Design and develop creative solutions that are unique and award winning
• Be a team player and collaborator — listening to the team’s recommendations before making final decisions
• Articulate ideas and demonstrate a willingness to bring new ideas to the forefront frequently
• Demonstrates effective verbal skills while building constructive and effective relationships with colleagues
• Exhibit attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
• Utilize current and new programs to maximize efficiencies
• Build and maintain a rapport with cross-discipline team members

Must Haves:
• Visual designer with strong design / UX / development background (or a UX architect with some serious design chops)
• Solid understanding of internet and mobile technologies – possibilities, limitations, and how things work in general
• Experience shipping mobile / web products. (preference given to mobile)
• Experience with e-commerce on mobile / web products
• Experience with information design based on data from analytics and reporting
• Intermediate understanding and experience with HTML/CSS + JavaScript, with direct experience in translating between design and code
• Portfolio that displays an understanding of user-centered design
• Advanced design and prototyping skills [preferred tools: Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure]
• Ability to translate product behavior and requirements to wireframes and then to production ready designs
• Ability to logically think through problems and arrive at multiple possible solutions
• Ability to think big picture while maintaining attention to detail
• Deep curiosity about inherent structure and organization of products and systems, and a will to improve them
• Comfortable working with a moderate level of ambiguity
• Experience working in a fast paced environment with engineering and product management teams
• Must be able to deliver high quality work consistently and on time

Nice To Haves:
• Masters degree in Interaction Design / HCI / UX / Industrial Design / Graphic Design / Product Design
• Start-up experience
• Experience with consumer electronic products
• Experience working with “smart products”, familiarity with “internet of things”
• Apps / products in market
• Experience with JIRA / other project management tools to track work
