UX/IA Designer

Position Summary 

A Sr. UX Specialist is the primary Information Architect responsible for defining the customer experience across all customer facing digital platforms. This person will provide positive user experience by determining information structure for Web sites and other Web and Mobile applications. 
This position will work directly with the product / program management team to develop UX strategies and UX / IA specifications that will improve the performance usability and effectiveness of customer facing interfaces. 

Position Responsibilities 

• Responsible for driving insights to inform the definition and development of new and existing products across all platforms 
• Responsible for working cross functionally with teams to shape and execute learning's plans based on business needs and growth initiatives for both existing and new offerings 
• Process and use information gathered from any user tests, surveys, and internal conversations 
• Leading and/or participating in user research, concept testing, and usability testing 
• Develop and use market research models and insights to drive superior decision making 
• Interpret research results, derives implications, performs market analysis and gathers strategic intelligence to provide proactive insight regarding the consumer market, trends and our customer needs, pain points and buying behaviors 
• Expert on methodology, survey design, and analysis/reporting, including appropriate use of advanced user research techniques 
• Work with product managers, designers, developers and research managers to prioritize Digital team’s research needs in a fast-paced environment 
• Manage research vendor relationships and drive execution of research initiatives 
• Champions voice of the customer across organization 
• Responsible for creating and delivering visually pleasing site maps, wireframes, and designs 

Position Requirements 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Computer science or related field. Master’s degree preferred 
• At least five years of industry experience, including experience as a hands-on researcher, working across multiple platforms, including mobile 
• Expertise in a broad range of methodologies including: ethnographic research, site visits, interviews, diary studies, usability testing, and putting together long-term research plans 
• Superior creativity and passion for what you do 
• Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage complex projects in a timely manner 
• Strong leadership qualities that enable you to lead cross-functional teams and third party partners when needed 
• Able to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information and present the results to the stakeholders 
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
• Portfolio that includes examples of leading strategic research with significant business outcomes 

Preferred Skills and Competencies 

• Experience with both large and small scale online projects - full project lifecycle - Required 
• Proven understanding of user-centered design techniques & demonstrated ability to incorporate UCD principles into the architecture and design of user interfaces 
• Demonstrated ability in gathering and translating requirements from business sponsors, SMEs, users, and business analysts etc. 
• Experience applying usability testing techniques and principles 
• Experience applying a web design standard 
• Knowledge of web client technologies (browsers, HTML, CSS) 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to articulate ideas effectively 
• An understanding of accessibility design issues - Preferred 
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in project teams 
• Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines 
• Strong detail orientation, and a passion for consistency 
• Experience working within a large organization - Preferred 
• Advanced user of Visio, Axure, XMind or equal industry-standard mapping and wire-framing tools and methods 
• High proficiency with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and other design tools 
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and/or CSS 
• Familiarity with accessible design principles, Section 508, and WCAG guidelines 
• Experience with content management systems and software, including data structuring and taxonomies 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Self-starter 
• Strong collaboration skills
