UX Writer

The UX Writer works closely with product owners, UX designers and scrum teams to learn our product flows, empathize with our users and convey meaning without artifice. Ruthlessly driving towards simplicity to make every interaction and every word count, the UX Writer owns and leads the voice and language within all our products. Documentation that captures clients customer-facing language is only the beginning. The ideal candidate can dig deep into the designs, flows and refine the whole experience, not just the copy. And as a UX Writer, you’ll have access to all our teams working on HR apps across multiple domains (time, talent, pay, etc.) as well as the opportunity to work with our customer-facing teams.


  • Write and edit content that builds enthusiasm, reduces anxiety and explains things simply and honestly
  • Advocate for users while understanding product and business goals
  • Iteratively improve language with the goal of high quality and high consistency across an ecosystem of apps
  • Develop and maintain content brand guidelines
  • Build and scale editorial processes
  • Participate in research activities


  • More than five (5) years of experience as a writer, ideally with two years in UI/UX/product design
  • Portfolio of writing samples such as copy decks, inventories, tone & voice guidelines, etc. (please attach samples when applying or provide a link to your portfolio)
  • Experience with content strategy for responsive design
  • Proven ability to develop content for wide variety of digital touch points
  • Excellent organization, oral, written and presentation skills that emphasize utility and impact over brevity and cleverness
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle different writing demands
  • A gift for giving and receiving feedback with clarity and empathy


  • Experience in a highly collaborative environment working with designers, engineers and product managers
  • Experience hiring, managing and developing editorial teams and processes
  • Experience using analytics, landscape analysis and user research to drive content decisions
  • Professional experience managing translation at scale
  • Experience writing dialogue for plays/screenplays, fiction/interactive fiction, and/or comedy/entertainment
