Title: Sr. UX Researcher
Have you always been curious about how people work and what makes them tick? Do you relish the challenge of designing studies that reveal surprising insights to others? Do you have the qualitative and quantitative skills to bring order, objective data, and focus to the chaotic design process?
We’re looking for a talented individual who can leverage their passion and usability knowledge to research the users of our mid-market, cloud-based software. In this role, you will directly report to the Director of User Experience and will collaborate closely with product managers, software developers, and other user experience professionals to research user workflows and goals, shape design decisions, and then test those designs.
Full time work will be at our Houston office. A moderate amount of travel to user locations for research purposes will be required.
Your primary responsibilities will involve: contextual inquiry and other forms of interviewing, task analysis, user stories, formative and summative usability testing, A/B testing, personas, surveys, statistical analysis, educating the team on the latest usability research, and evangelizing user-centered design inside and outside the company.
Your secondary responsibilities will depend upon your background, skills and interests, but may include: low-fidelity prototyping, heuristic reviews, web analytics and data mining, card sorting, and eye tracking.
Who We’re Looking For
Master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, or Human-Computer Interaction.
Solid foundation in experimental design and research methods.
Knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
Mastery of interviewing techniques and cognitive task analyses, such as think-aloud protocol.
Mastery of synthesizing research findings into actionable recommendations.
Experienced in planning and implementation of usability testing.
Capable of designing surveys and administering them using software like Survey Monkey.
Able to perform quantitative analysis using Excel and statistical packages.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Articulate, observant, and a good listener.
At least 5 years of experience working in a user experience-related role.
PhD in Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, or Human-Computer Interaction., or relevant certification credentials (CUA, CHFP/CUXP), or an equivalent amount of experience.
Experienced working within an Agile software environment.
Experienced researching users of the SalesForce platform.
Experienced using Morae for documenting and analyzing usability testing sessions.
Experienced analyzing web analytics and data mining to uncover user behaviors and trends.
Experienced performing eye tracking studies and analyzing results.
Experienced creating prototypes using Balsamiq or Axure.
