UX Researcher

You will design and conduct usability studies for Web-based and mobile software applications, networked consumer electronic devices, and/or audio and visual media products/services (TV, video, photos, music.) The candidate must be able to determine the appropriate type of study (e.g., task-based, contextual inquiry, ethnographic, expert review, formal, informal, comparative, benchmark, online survey, focus group, etc.) needed to collect the necessary user data given a project’s present state and timeline constraints. The candidate must also be able to analyze and prioritize study results and report out to cross-functional teams and senior management.

KEY FOCUS AREAS INCLUDE:
• Designing studies and writing test plan
• Recruiting study participants
• Moderating user studies
• Analyzing data collected
• Feeding results back to Verizon teams, e.g., product development, product management, support systems, etc., to improve user experience at product launch and after

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
1. Write test plans, including study goals, methodology, tasks, and timelines.
2. Define study/research participation criteria and demographics. Identify pool of possible participants. Recruit employees and/or customers accordingly.
3. Write, test, administer and collate data from study participants. Facilitate participant sessions.
4. Conduct competitive analyses where appropriate to enhance user data and recommended solutions.
5. Analyze study results. Write reports detailing and illustrating user experience issues. Include data-driven recommendations and prioritized solutions.
6. Report out written and verbal results to cross functional teams and senior management.
7. Convert usability and technical issues into defect reports. Champion and track technical fixes with design and development teams by attending daily/weekly review meetings and initiating or participating in re-design discussions.
8. Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to prioritize and outline short-and long-term product roadmaps.
9. Work collaboratively with design and development teams to leverage user data into concepts, storyboards, or prototypes.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• 5 years of experience conducting usability/user experience testing, user-centered design or development, or marketing/consumer research in technology or telecom industry
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science or related field
• Savvy with Web-based and mobile phone user interface technologies
• Demonstrated ability to design and conduct different types of user research studies including: task-based, contextual inquiry, ethnographic, expert review, formal, informal, comparative, benchmark, online survey, focus group, etc.
