UX Researcher

Summary:
The User Experience Researcher is responsible for planning and implementing research activities such as planning, collecting, synthesizing qualitative/quantitative data, and translating research insights into actionable recommendations throughout various stages of the design and development lifecycle. This is a hands-on role, and includes writing research plans, moderating usability sessions, developing reports, and delivering findings to designers and stakeholders in a corporate IT environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsibly and effectively advocate for end-users within the confines of a corporate environment; devise ways to quickly bring back detailed research findings
  • Responsible for the creation of consistent deliverables
  • Provide creative leadership by working closely with business teams to validate mobile product strategy, use cases, and high-level requirements through frequent contact with end-users and subject matter experts.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate user experience research activities related to the key project deliverables such as: field studies, interviews, process flows, cognitive walkthroughs, onsite and remote lab studies, user surveys, etc.
  • Ability to measuring and managing outcomes
  • Work with project managers to plan, prioritize, and conduct user/task analysis as well as collaborate on mobile solutions that meet the combined needs of the business and end-users.
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan, prioritize, and conduct concept modeling and usability testing to ensure end-user needs are incorporated into mobile design solutions.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with the Business Analyst to ensure that user research and data are used when documenting user requirements
  • Work collaboratively other UX researchers to ensure consistent deliverables and share best practices.
  • Synthesize conflicting priorities from business leaders and project teams.
  • Be creative and innovative when applying processes while maintaining a positive approach to ambiguity.
  • Functions as a usability advocate within the project team to emphasize user-centered design principles.
  • Identify opportunities where UX research practices and can be leveraged
  • Challenge assumptions from project team and advocate for data-driven decision making


  • Scope and Accountability:
  • Frequently, candidate’s decisions and actions strongly impact the company's revenue or operations. Decisions and actions have a significant impact on reputation, and/or customer satisfaction.
  • Candidate makes recommendations, gives direction to others, and performs work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for upholding the brand and standard of the Con-way User Experience Research and Design team.


  • Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction or usability engineering generally preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a hands-on researcher fluent in applying qualitative and quantitative research methods in an corporate environment
  • Thorough knowledge of interface design principles, usability theories, and rapid design
  • Excellent active listening, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to establish business relationships and work effectively with business and client contacts. Strong interpersonal skills.
