UX Researcher

As a UX Researcher in this assignment at Aquent's client, you'll have the opportunity to support research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed search products. We are looking for an individual who has excellent communication skills, is diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently. The Search Social Impact UX team supports several product teams focused on key Search verticals, including Health, Education and Civic Engagement.

You will work closely with a team of UX design, product and engineering to conduct rapid prototyping and evaluation of new design concepts.

Overall Responsibilities:
1. Working closely with UX designers, product and engineering stakeholders to develop and execute on effective research methods for evaluating new concepts and interactive prototypes with target users.
2. Planning user research activities (working with participant recruiters to schedule study sessions, setting up the usability lab and finalizing study plans).
3. Conduct qualitative user research, primarily in-lab usability sessions and remote studies.
4. Designing and fielding surveys.
5. Taking notes during user study sessions.
6. Analyzing qualitative & quantitative data.
7. Creating reports (including creating graphs, highlight videos, slide decks, etc.).
8. Communicating findings from the studies to the research lead and other stakeholders.
9. Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing existing research reports and data (both internal and external).

Additional Responsibilities:
You may make day trips to user study locations outside the office. You may be asked to work from other client offices, too, as needed. Most of the work will take place during regular business hours, but you will need to work on evenings from time to time. You may be asked to work on Saturdays occasionally.

Required Skills:
- B.A./B.S. in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior.
- 1-3 years as a research assistant or researcher with industry experience in core user research methods (i.e. usability testing, interviews).
- At least 6 months of industry experience conducting in-person lab-based usability research.
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks.
- The ability operate in a very fast-paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects.
- Willingness to travel
- Okay with flexible working hours (regular business hours + evenings and Saturdays).

Nice to have skills/Not required:
-M.A/M.S./Ph.D. in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior.
-Experience conducting remote studies a plus.
-Technical aptitude, familiarity with basic graphic and video editing tools preferred.
-Knowledge of basic statistical concepts preferred.
-An interest in Health, Education and/or Civic Engagement fields preferred. Experience working in one or more of these areas would be a bonus.
