UX Researcher

The role: User Experience Researcher
As a researcher, you'll have the opportunity to support research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed products. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
1. Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of how users engage with novel products and experiences via quantitative methods, benchmark studies lab studies and surveys
2. Work with designers, product managers, engineers and research managers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
3. Assist in preparing user research activities (working with the recruiters to schedule study sessions, setting up the usability lab etc.).

Other Responsibilities:
-Independently analyze qualitative & quantitative data
-Observe and run usability testing sessions and interviews.
-Administer questionnaires, surveys, and interviews.
-Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research
-Evangelize research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations
-Communicate findings from the study to the research lead.
-Assist in creating reports (including creating graphs, highlight videos, slide decks etc.).
-Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing existing research reports.
-Take notes during user study sessions.

Requirements:
-Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
-Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
-The ability operate in a very fast-paced environment
-M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (in progress or completed) in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu or degree, some related work experience.
-Detail-oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks.
-Interest in general research and user research methods.
-Strong oral and written communication skills.
-Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects.
-Technical aptitude, familiarity with basic graphic and video editing tools preferred.
-Knowledge of basic statistical concepts preferred.
-OK with flexible working hours (regular business hours + evenings or Saturdays).

Experience requirements:
-M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (in progress or completed) in Human Factors, HCI/Computer Science, or equivalent, will consider without industry experience
-If M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (in progress or completed) in non-applied research (e.g., psychology), then at least 1 year working in tech
-If BA, must be Human Factors, HCI/Computer Science or equivalent with either UX research internship or related work experience in tech sector (1 year+)

Nice to haves:
-2-3 years experience working as UX researcher in tech sector
-Training or work experience as designer (in addition to research experience/education)
-Strong knowledge of statistical concepts (e.g., linear regression) and modeling
-Experience analyzing large surveys (1000+ respondents)
-Experience with ethnographic research
