UX Researcher || Manager

Aquent is currently searching for a UX Researcher for a valued client in their Northbrook, Illinois office.

The UX Researcher will be supporting a strategic business unit within the company that is transforming the agency force for a changing insurance market landscape. The UX Researcher will be scoping, planning, and executing design research activities to guide and measure several related digital initiatives with both agent- and customer-facing components. This person will apply typical design research methods and approaches (including contextual interviewing, usability testing, and stakeholder workshop facilitation) as well as contribute to overall business strategies for the roll-out and evaluation of new digital tools and workflows. The position will involve tactical research execution, research oversight, and knowledge sharing across other research functions within the company, requiring regular meetings and coordination of findings and implications across multiple projects and stakeholders. The UX Researcher will work primarily onsite at the company’s Northbrook campus to ensure close collaboration with key UX team members. Some incidental domestic travel involved, including local travel by car to field sites when applicable.

Key Responsibilities
• Identify and implement creative research activities that drive end user understanding.
• Communicate insights to project teams that contribute to improving design experiences.
• Create estimates and project plans related to research efforts for complex and strategic projects
• Plan and facilitate teams in the creation of journey maps, user personas, and research objectives, aligned with project and business goals.
• Plan, conduct and facilitate iterative evaluations of user experiences for complex or strategic projects
• Develop and educate others in evaluation techniques and incorporate industry best practices
• Create and provide formal education on design research to other UX team members
• Define and refine research processes and influence higher levels in the company to promote the value of UX Research and end user understanding
• Utilize project/program insights to identify and form larger connections that impact key initiatives across the organization and the enterprise as a whole.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
• 6 or more years of relevant experience within a research function
• Strong qualitative skills
• A passion for understanding end users of technology solutions, products and services, and desire to consistently uncover and share insights that will create exceptional experiences.
• Experience coordinating and directing design research projects and various forms of prototype evaluation
• Demonstrated experience planning and selecting the optimal research method for a given project
• Experience training peers and other team members in proper testing techniques
• Experience conducting heuristic reviews for complex applications
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build rapport, establish credibility
• Thrives in collaborative work
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated success facilitating workshops/design sessions
• Experience with Google Analytics, Web Trends, UserZoom, Morae and other usability and analytical software tools a plus
• Four year degree, Master’s preferred, in Human Factors/Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental/Social Psychology, Cognitive Science or related field.
