This Communications UX research team is looking for a proactive and passionate UX research lead to join their team as they focus on building communication tools for the next billion users. We are looking for a User Experience Research Lead to work a cross-Comms role. This position is based in Kirkland, WA, with team members in Kirkland and Bangalore, India. As a research lead on a dynamic UX team, you will have the opportunity to drive impact through research working alongside User Experience Designers, Product Managers and Engineers. They focus on quick turnaround, iterative research as well as accessibility and foundational research. This role will provide leadership to a newly formed team that has been quickly embraced across the org. Research spans 6 products, and you will be creative in managing ambiguity, providing thoughtful feedback and creating challenging projects to provide learning and growth for the team. Your leadership will advocate for user needs to ensure that you will inspire change at all stages of product development by driving the team to deliver exciting oral, written and visual presentations about your findings.
-Collaborate with the team of researchers focusing on Comms research efforts
-Contribute to, or help lead, key research team activities including international field research, lab studies, RITE methodology, design sprints, surveys, and other forms of research.
-Mentor and partner closely with team members in all locations (Kirkland, Mountain View, San Francisco, and Bangalore)
-Partner closely with researchers to ensure research plans are executed in a timely fashion.
-Provide feedback and guidance on research assistant day-to-day work; logistics, research plans, execution and reporting out
-Collaborate with product team researchers to define and prioritize user experience research questions.
-Ensure effective communication of research findings.
-Travel is expected, up to 20%
-MA/MS Degree in: in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Information Science or related field
-1-2 years experience managing a team of 5 or more junior-level individual contributors
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills -- including ability to distill findings into concise insights and engage and excite stakeholders about research.
-Interest in product development and connecting research findings with new product ideas.
-Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of multiple different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
-A desire to move quickly and innovate on the way we do research.
