UX Research Asst./Quantitative

Pay: Up to $46.20 DOE
6 month contract on-site at client location

Project Overview:
We are looking for a Research Assistant (RA) to support UX Research work on a games-related project. The RA will work closely with other researchers, supporting mostly quantitative lab-based research.

Overall Responsibilities:
Support ongoing UX research work - by running or moderating studies, analyzing lots of quantitative data, analyzing some qualitative data, organizing research session logistics, writing detailed reports.
Collect and analyze user behavior through benchmark studies, lab studies, and surveys.
Work with other researchers, designers, product managers, engineers in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Perform statistical analyses on data collected from user studies; provide results and graphs.
Moderate playtest-style user research sessions of 20 participants at a time.
Support logistics related to research studies: create participant screeners, help set up the lab, collect materials, and keep the team organized.

Required Skills:
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Statistics, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
1+ years experience conducting research on consumer-facing experiences.
Working knowledge of statistics (regressions, ANOVAs) and the principles of experiment design.
Familiarity with SPSS or R.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
Confidence and communication skills necessary to speak in front of large groups, including directing 20 participants concurrently in a research session.

Must be willing to work evenings and / or weekends; this is when many of the sessions take place.
Organized and detail-oriented.

Nice to Have Skills:
1+ years experience working with other researchers on quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.
1+ years experience working in a fast-paced environment.
1+ years experience working with or playing digital games.
