Aquent's client, an American multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products, is seeking a User Research Assistant for a 6–month assignment.
This Cloud UX team provides design and research to transform internal and external developer tools into a cutting-edge, unified, beautiful, and usable cloud platform so developers can create anything from simple websites to complex applications. They employ a user-centered design process to understand, test, foresee, and improve the user experience.
The User Experience (UX) team follows a simple premise: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." UX Researchers strive to learn what they need and want from products and services. As a UX Researcher, You conduct independent research, analyze real user behavior and work with User Interface Designers, Products Manager and Engineers to improve our product features and develop new ones. Your work spans across all products, and you are encouraged to identify new opportunities for user experience improvements. We strive to the connect users to the magic of our products, and your job is to make that connection intuitive and accessible.
Top 3 daily responsibilities
1. Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of how users experience online search.
2. Collect and analyze user behavior through server logs, online experiments (A/B testing), benchmark studies, lab studies, and surveys.
3. Work with designers, product managers, engineers, and research managers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations.
BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or 4+ years of equivalent practical experience.
4 years of work experience in an applied research setting
Nice to Have
Research experience in enterprise/business software, developer tools, IT, or other complex software systems.
4 years of relevant work experience, including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
Good working knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
