Our Client is seeking a uniquely innovative and highly motivated UX Prototyper / Design Technologist to bring to life bold concepts for the future of retail discovery on their website. In this role, you will use a variety of tools and technologies to prototype new ways of interacting and shopping on the web and devices, with a variety of modalities. You’ll work with a small, powerful, and highly collaborative team of designers and developers in a studio environment, inventing and iterating on concepts that start and end with the customer.

•What is happening within your team to create this need?
Our team is growing both in the volume and ambition of our work. We are designing and developing more robust and sophisticated customer experiences, while simultaneously expanding into mobile and international markets. In short, it’s going to be a lot of fun. :)

The ideal candidate will have an inventor’s spirit, an eye for detail, a restless drive to improve and excel, a can-do approach, a passion for customer and user experience, and a proficiency for front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Building prototypes and bridging our team’s design and development responsibilities will be the core responsibility of this position, so a balanced passion for design and implementation is essential.

Our Client supports a vast number of businesses, categories, and products across all of their global retail websites, so this position will have a significant impact on the user experience of millions of their customers. The candidate with the right mix of customer obsession, technical skill, high standards and efficient problem solving will also appreciate the opportunity to greatly influence our growing team's processes, architecture, and approach.

•What will be the day-to-day activities for this role?
It’s important to clarify that this is a design role, not an engineering role.
Our prototyper will be responsible for helping elevate the customer experience through the generation of interactive prototypes, technical explorations and investigations. As such, solid front-end technical skills are a must in order to produce the work product, but this candidate will not be expected to (necessarily) ship front-end code. The UX Prototyper will work alongside our UX designers, will be involved in the initial project kick offs, and will lead interaction explorations & prototyping to help contribute to the design exploration & refinement process. The prototyper will then work with our dev team to transfer the prototype for engineering.

Responsibilities:
•Actively participate in concept development and design ideation as part of a small team.
•Rapidly build and iterate prototypes to validate and refine concepts and test ideas.
•Partner with design and development teams to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate through to shipping products and services.
•In addition to building prototypes of designs, actively contribute to the quality of our products by supplying interaction design recommendations

Basic Qualifications
•At least 3 years’ experience as a key member of a UI or UX design team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications.
•Background and experience in UX design, interactive design, or web development
•Passion and eye for details
•Experience working on interactive web applications and dynamic web sites
•Experience and passion for modern web technologies, methodologies, and techniques: HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript / jQuery, AJAX, etc
•Experience with mobile (or responsive) design and development
•Portfolio of work that demonstrates detailed attention to typography, color, imagery, motion, and graphic elements
