UX Manager

The primary responsibility for the UX Manager to work across business channels and functions to create content strategies that tell a creative, imaginative, consistent and seamless story that brings the brand to life online and positions their stores as a regional unique destination.

This person will shape the look, feel and message of the company. An in-depth understanding of visual design principles and a desire to push conceptual thinking and the latest design and technology trends will be critical in creating experiences that connect with our current and future customers, our team members and our community. This is a rare and unique opportunity to build a new online retail presence for a legendary local retailer from the ground up!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understands and interprets brand, customer, and business needs in order to develop innovative, creative, and results-oriented design solutions.
• Create a visual design style guide to develop our unique brand and inform site design direction.
• Leads production of inspired website design that meets the needs of our customer and goals of our business.
• Develops scalable processes to produce site content on time, on budget, and error free.
• Manages design projects from concept to completion.
• Hires, manages, and inspires a team of designers and copywriters.
• Hires and manages temporary design and copy resources for peak volume time periods.
• Evaluates and manages 3rd party design partners as needed.

Other Duties:
• Keeps up to date with current design trends and technologies.
• Monitors the competitive marketplace for new design ideas.
• Must possess a “startup” mentality and the ability to potentially work through ambiguity.
• This position works under minimal supervision and must work closely with the Purchasing Department, Advertising Department, Vendors, Information Technology Department, and other Team Members.

Qualifications:
• 4 year degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Website Design or equivalent work experience.
• Passion for delivering excellent online customer experiences that yield legendary customer service.
• 3+ years of experience creating content strategy for large scale transactional ecommerce environments.
• 3+ years of experience building, leading, and inspiring teams of Website Designers and Copywriters.
• Practical knowledge and skills in website usability and information architecture.
• Expertise in website design related platforms, applications, and technologies.
• Experience creating content for responsive websites.
• Expertise in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, and Bootstrap.
• Must be able to collaborate with all levels of the organization, across multiple cross-functional groups, and with diverse personalities.
• Experience presenting complex design concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Must have expert computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Must possess expert organizational skills and the ability to produce high output without wasted effort.
