Vitamin T is looking for a User Experience Manager to lead the UX department of a large online publishing organization in designing interfaces to help people use Internet-based research applications easily and effectively. As a senior member of the product development team, define an enterprise visual strategy and lead efforts to unify the look and feel of multiple research platforms.

This position will work closely with internal business leads and to create a scaleable cross platform user experience strategy and implement designs which accomplish product and business objectives. Work with the software development staff to understand and work within technical constraints, and optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of design implementations.

What you need to be successful:

Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas or a related field: Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Interaction Design, or Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction
7 or more years of industry experience in interface design, web design, or a closely related field
5 years experience with Web technologies as well as software product development processes
Experience designing for mobile and tablet-sized devices
Experience leading teams
Passion for creating a good experience for our users
Commitment to quality and promoting best practices
Solid understanding of User Centered Design principles, especially as related to the design of interfaces which support research tasks
Proven experience producing appealing and effective web designs (please provide link to design portfolio with resume submission)
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color and page layout
Mastery of Photoshop and similar tools
Understanding of CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and HTML.
Familiarity with accessibility best practices
Collaborative approach; able to work effectively with a wide group of people (Product Managers, Content experts, Developers)
Ability to work in an agile development team.
Demonstrated ability to lead team members in visual design best practices
Problem-solving and communication skills
Adaptable/flexible to changing environment
