Position Summary:
Our educational non-profit client is seeking a Developer to support the User Experience Design Team in prototyping and in the development and maintenance of branded UI standards.

• Projects include = Site dev: desktop/mobile responsive | applications: desktop/mobile for education industry

• Proficiency in hand-coding HTML, CSS and JavaScript are all required

• Ability to build responsive application-level prototypes and knowledge of coding practices relative to different screen resolutions and devices/browsers

• 100% front end – but with a very good understanding of back-end technology

• Working skills in any backend technology is a big plus, such as: PHP, Node, Ruby etc.

We are looking for someone who is well versed in digital product development and who has experience with its many processes, and an advocate for best practices to help bring about cultural shift in our organization.

You will be joining our UX Team and working across a variety of digital educational products to form user-friendly interfaces for our audiences, students and education professionals. To this end, you will be responsible for the overall design and development of our user interface and work with our various implementation teams to ensure it materializes.

Essential Responsibilities
• Explore new frameworks and libraries to determine if new technologies should affect the direction of design
• Develop functional prototypes utilizing the latest in web technology and coding practices
• Solicit feedback and rapidly iterate concepts
• Help inform UX team on technical opportunities through proactive sharing of best practices, and new trends and technologies
• Create a highly organized and maintainable codebase
• Instruct UX team on best practices for transitioning design to code

Qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of Javascript, CSS, HTML5 as well as familiarity of frameworks and libraries such as Bootstrap, jQuery, and AngularJS/Backbone
• CS degree and/or demonstrated work experience in delivering responsive and mobile web products
• Knowledge of OO programming within JS as well as its quirks
• Ability to build responsive application-level prototypes and knowledge of coding practices relative to different screen resolutions and devices/browsers

Preferred:
• Knowledgeable in agile development and software engineering best practices
• Familiarity with database relationships and SQL
• Experience with server-side languages (PHP/Ruby/etc)
• Knowledge of how to use Git/SVN
• Experience designing for A/B, multivariate and/or behavioral targeting tests
