We are looking for a UX (user experience) Designer with 5+ years of experience in UX or UI design. Here are the details:

Our client is a security startup working to protect the critical systems of organizations ranging from global corporations to NGOs. Our client's clients are in the crosshairs of some of the most sophisticated adversaries in the world - organized criminals, foreign intelligence agencies, and terrorists. Their job is to build systems that identify and prevent attacks and we’ve been successful enough that our presence on networks has been enough to scare off attackers.

They are scaling up a UX Design team to tackle a diverse product portfolio ranging from yet conceived products to existing ones in need of improvements. They thrive with creative personalities who are passionate, self-motivated, and inspiring. The team will work collaboratively with other geo-distributed teams such as Product, Marketing, and Engineering. Location: Irvine, CA (applicants must live in commuting distance or have interest in relocating-will not consider telecommute)

UI/UX Designer
As an artist, you design and build rapid user experience prototypes to test with users and incorporate their feedback to optimize workflows and guide product development. You craft micro-interactions to delight users while focusing on macro-interactions for optimal task completion.

Responsibilities
Transform complex ideas and concepts into; beautiful, functional, and surprisingly simple design solutions
Design user experiences from low-fidelity sketches to hi-fidelity pixel perfect mockups
Create rapid prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders and customers
Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure the overall design is consistent with established styles and usability best practices
Champion and use principles of usability and user-centered design and know when it's ok to violate those principles

MUST HAVES:
Strong portfolio of interactive web applications featuring complex user workflows, data displays, and visualizations
5+ years working in data intensive displays or applications (No Web Designers Please!)
5+ years Working knowledge of functional animation and the importance of transition states in a dynamic data-driven user experience
Experience with Sketch (preferred), Illustrator, and/or Photoshop
BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or commensurate experience
Enthusiasm for an iterative design process, driven by group critique
Deep understanding of information design / architecture, gestalt principles, and user psychology
Technical understanding of interface design in an Agile development environment
Communicate effectively in a cross-functional product development team and present ideas and designs effectively
Manage time wisely across projects and competing priorities, meet agreed upon deadlines, and be accountable for work

NICE TO HAVE:
Champion user and UX advocacy in the face of competing priorities
Proficiency in graphic design, motion graphics, digital art, a sensitivity to typography, color, layout, and a general awareness of materials/textures
Knowledge of data visualization principles and the visual-cognitive system
Demonstrate skilled use of HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Framer.js, UXPin, Pixate, AfterEffects, or other prototyping tools
