UX Designer

o Primarily: UX design for instrument UI's, and web-based scientific analysis apps
o Occasionally: UX design for mobile apps, out-of-box experience
o The work is mostly in the areas of DNA sequencing, protein analysis, digital microscopy

 Your minimum requirements
o At least 4 years experience in UX, with the emphasis on design (instead of research or usability evaluations, other)
o Basic visual design skills - ability to lay out a screen in a well organized way
o Wireframing experience: drawn by hand or on computer
o Basic interactive prototyping skills - clickable prototypes
o Experience with projects small and large
o Ability to manage your own project planning and deadlines
o Ability to have healthy relationships with project teams
o Ability to present before large groups (3-15 people)
o Ability to apply existing design patterns

 Extras that could move you up the list
o 5-7 years experience or more
o Ability to evolve design patterns to something new
o Can prototype in Axure
o Good visual design skills
o A talent for helping teams narrow down requirements
o Ability to guide teams in writing good user stories
o Success in persuading project teams that investing in good
o Experience in designing user tests
o Excellent interactive prototyping skills
o Experience in web-apps
o Excellent verbal presentation skills
o Excellent relationship skills
o A strategic / systems-thinker design is worth it
