This initial 6 month contract position will report to the Web Development Manager and be the go to person for user experience, web design and user interface development process.
An excellent opportunity is available at client head office for a talented User Experience Designer with at least 3 years' experience. This role operates in a mid-sized web development team and works with a diverse range of professionals from the web tech lead, all the way through to web front and backend development, architecture, creative and project management teams on a daily basis. You will be implementing beautiful user interfaces based on the best industry practices, elegant code that is cross browser compliant and accessible.
The role requires strong web design skills to convert design concepts into HTML and CSS, conduct technical investigations and support existing business websites. An additional requirement is a proven ability to set and maintain web design standards.
Working as a key part of this high achieving team you will spend your days:
Analysing user interactions and design and implementing graphical user interfaces
Delivering implementations and participating in regular demonstrations and review of the evolving designs with client representatives
Liaising with internal development teams to ensure that the proposed interface designs are practical to implement; and
Ensuring that the interface designs appropriately address requirements
To be considered for this role it is essential that you possess the following skills:
3 to 4 years' experience in user experience and interaction design for data rich web applications
Experience in user interface design
Graphic design skills (Photoshop or Illustrator), creating icons, CSS "sprite" pallets, Images etc.
Experience with mobile device user interfaces and Responsive design
Understanding of mobile device memory management, features and its limitations for web apps
Experience with user testing cross browser, devices and os platforms
Exposure to development tools such as version control (TFS) IDE (Visual Studio), continuous integration
Peer-review and development methodologies such as agile / scrum
Holding a relevant IT degree / qualification
