One of the nation's largest and most dynamic nonprofit organizations is currently searching for a User Experience designer to work with content strategists, developers, and designers to create user-centered interfaces, designs, and workflows to meet audience needs and support business objectives. The user experience designer will be involved in every stage of the development process from concept to delivery to governance. As part of the cross-disciplinary web team, the user experience designer will conduct user research and work with stakeholders to optimize the digital customer experience.
Responsibilities
The User Experience Designer will be central to solving problems through a process that promotes user-centricity. Among the responsibilities:
• Work as part of a multi-discipline project team and internal stakeholders to gather and analyze business and user requirements
• Conduct user research to inform updates to products
• Create deliverables and artifacts to support the creative process, this may include sketches, wireframes, site maps, prototypes
• Use best practices in user-centered design to translate requirements into useable, meaningful experiences
• Communicate user goals with personas, customer journey maps, user flows, storyboards, or other tools
• Serve as a user advocate throughout the process
• Serve as a subject matter expert on user-centered design
• Independently implement improvements or refinements to development process
• Act as "go to" with current, in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards
The ideal candidate will have:
• 2-4 years' experience doing user experience design
• Understanding of content strategy, IA, design, and development and the relationship between them
• Experience in designing highly usable web interfaces and products
• Expertise in mobile strategy and design
• Understanding of web technologies and markup, including responsive design, HTML, CSS, and libraries
• Ability to communicate with audiences of different technical ability and to explain and educate others about concepts related to user experience practice
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent writing and communications skills
• Creative problem solving skills and working on multiple tasks concurrently
• Self-motivated and decisive with the ability to excel independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
• Experience using web content management tools
