Our client, an online publishing company in Boston, needs a strong UX Designer!

You will work with other UI/UX Designers in an agile, cross-functional project team that includes Product Owners, Engineers and Quality Assurance personnel. You will be a key member of a strong design team that plays a leading role in determining the vision of the product.

The ideal candidate is committed to continuous improvement and innovation. You must have the ability to communicate your design vision effectively with a cross-functional team, and you must have a desire to proactively guide and shape the product’s path. You must know how and when to leverage testing to inform your design decisions. You must be comfortable in a collaborative environment and thrive on peer critique.

Responsibilities:

Lead new user interface designs through the full design and development cycle (including concepts, information architecture, visual design and interaction design)
Lead cross-functional design reviews for design concepts, from initial wireframes and prototypes through feature completion
Create functional prototypes that display highly innovative, engaging, and user centered designs
Design workflows that work on multiple devices and platforms including mobile
Engage in market research to explore and discover new features that best serve the target market
Work with Usability Analyst in developing and executing user testing of current and future designs
Develop and maintain visual design library and UX pattern library for consistent design
Pair with Engineers to integrate code with front end frameworks and implement visual designs
Work in code using HTML, CSS and Javascript to fix defects and adjust interface to match the designs created

Skills/Qualifications (Required):

Expert level skills in problem solving, creativity and interaction design
3 years direct experience in UI/UX Design with a focus on web applications
Clear understanding of usability, user-centered design, accessibility and web standards
Proficient in HTML/CSS (Javascript experience ideal)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong prioritization and multitasking skills
Proven experience and understanding of mobile design/development
Strong portfolio of work demonstrating the following:
User focused design sense
Excellent use of typography and layout
Wireframes/Mockups or comps demonstrating design approach
Outstanding visual design skills
Thoughtful user work flows
