Fantastic contract to hire opportunity to join one of Portland's largest agencies as a UX Designer. As assigned, assume UX leadership within project/program teams

This newly created position is responsible for leading user-centered design activities such as defining and advocating for users; gathering, validating, analyzing, and defining requirements; conducting user experience and
information architecture activities, creating and planning interfaces; and contributing to the experience standards definition. Documents by a user experience architect will act as project guidelines for integrated team members, supporting the successful completion of digital projects. As a trusted team member and contributor to the success of assigned projects and/or programs, this position will maintain the agency’s standards of excellence, timeliness, and profitability, while achieving clients’ goals.
Roles and Responsibilities (User Experience Excellence):
Collaborate with brand, creative, strategy, analytics, and technical project teams to define and document requirements (business, stakeholder, user, and content) and success metrics (quantitative and qualitative), overall user experience vision on projects, and recommend strategically sound solutions to meet client’s business needs
Work with client teams, stakeholders, and users to develop market and user definitions
Conduct UX-related research, including stakeholder and user interviews, surveys, and usability testing
Create customer journeys, experience maps, and visual program plans for proposals and projects
Develop information architectures and taxonomies for digital projects based on content and user needs
Document content distribution among various channels—websites, offline channels, email campaigns, social media
Design interfaces and interactions based on business goals and user preferences
Present recommendations to client and internal teams
Provide consultation to visual designers and developers to ensure defined UX-planning is executed
Provide consultation to project teams on interaction approach, usability, information taxonomy, and navigation
Apply, evangelize, and train others in best practices for user-centered design and user research.
Stay current with core web development technology trends, capabilities, and limitations.
Work on more than one project at a time
Adhere to project budget and time constraints
Seek out opportunities for personal creative growth by working with other teams outside area of expertise
Internal Responsibilities: Support directors to fulfill client needs
Interact with creative, technical, and account project/program team members
Participate in meetings and critiques; explain and substantiate existing or potential UX direction(s)
Read, write, and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, clients, and agency staff
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but objective written or oral instructions
Client Relationships: Assist in client communications and education as in pertains to UX
Assist in preparing and delivering client presentations
REQUIREMENTS: Think smart, live curiously, work collaboratively, and act passionately
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in fine arts, design, or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience
Three plus years of post-graduate experience and/or internship is a must
Passion for new technology and organizational tools
Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
