UX Designer

We’re a full-service creative and digital shop of seriously talented people doing innovative work for fantastic global clients. And yet, something’s missing. Let’s call it. . . a user experience (UX) designer with 2+ years of experience in our DC office.

This isn’t really a visual design job. We need Boxes and Arrows, not Planet Photoshop. That said, you’ll likely be involved in all phases of projects so your secondary skills — in visual design, project management, writing, development — certainly won’t go to waste.

Your Responsibilities

Design engaging, usable, adaptive experiences for web, mobile and social platforms
Find compelling stories in our clients’ products, documents, and data
Create deliverables including wireframes, sitemaps and interactive prototypes, and present them to clients for review and approval
Partner with visual designers, developers and clients to ensure final products meet business and user objectives
Interface directly with clients; help them discover and articulate project goals; document those goals in project deliverables
Research user behavior through qualitative and quantitative analysis, including contextual inquiry, task analysis, usability testing and web analytics
Create client-ready research deliverables such as personas, journey maps, mental models, content models, and scenarios
Identify members of the UX community who still insist on saying personae instead of personas; gently but firmly inform them that ship has sailed
Stay abreast of emerging content and technology trends and their implications for our clients
Play a strategic role in the globalization of the UX practice as APCO StudioOnline grows its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Asia
Other duties as assigned (We *love* this one — buckle up.)
Key Capabilities

2+ years UX experience with websites and web applications/architectures
A portfolio demonstrating application of best practices in information architecture, content strategy and interaction design
Understanding of UI technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, web browsers, devices) —especially their capabilities and limitations
A strong client service ethic
BA/BS in technical or design related fields, or equivalent experience
But Enough About You
