UX Art Director

Client is seeking a results-driven, experienced UX Art Director (UXAD) to join team. The role is to create websites that people love to use, and to create digital content that reminds the world what it is that they love about client's products.

Working with the ACD this person will get inside the heads of both business stakeholders and users to understand goals and motivations, and synthesize them into an elegant, satisfying approach that helps bring products and services to life online.

From time-to-time client also works with some of the best and most innovative digital agencies, in these cases the UXAD will be expected to help guide agency output to ensure objectives are met elegantly that properly represent the brand.

Our ideal candidate can inspire a team of designers by delivering inventive, thoughtful, relevant work, has a genuine interest and curiosity in gadgets, is passionate—even a bit geeky—about the latest UX trends and creating amazing digital experiences, and is an ambitious self-starter who is at ease in a scrappy, start-up-within-a-large-corporation atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
● Expertly craft documentation to represent the user experience for new product and service offerings, including: requirements, functional specifications, flow diagrams, wire frame schematics, and prototypes
● Work closely with project stakeholders, listening to them and understanding their goals, and requirements
● Collaboratively help establish the creative strategy for projects
● Deliver innovative designs that support a responsive design system (fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries), and support an array of devices and browsers
● Work with visual designers to implement designs; monitor progress of junior design staff
● Monitor execution of creative vision and design deliverables throughout all phases of production
● Participate in all aspects of your team's projects, focusing on innovation, quality and meeting stakeholder objectives
● Work within project parameters: stakeholder objectives, user experience, technical constraints, as well as budget and schedule
● Work concurrently on multiple projects
● Follow leading industry trends and share your insights with the team
● Exercise the utmost level of discretion in dealing with highly confidential products

Job Qualifications
● Must have a Bachelor’s degree in human factors, graphic design or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience designing for large-scale websites with significant amounts of content and interactive complexity (in lieu of a degree we require a minimum of 10 years of experience). Agency experience preferred.
● Must have a design portfolio that clearly represents your experience, solid design ideas, and a clear personal aesthetic
● Strong conceptual thinker, ability to understand the “big picture” of the project and how it fits with the full consumer experience and business expectations
● Knows and gets technology, gadgets, design and internet culture amazingly well
● Ability to think beyond the desktop and craft responsive design solutions using fluid grids, flexible images, and media query techniques
● Excellent written and verbal communications skills; can articulate complex concepts persuasively using a visual vocabulary and advocate for best practices
● Demonstrated experience providing feedback, coaching and guidance to junior design staff
● Must have flexibility, good judgment and strong attention to detail
● Be nice. Play well with a variety of stakeholders from other divisions and offices around the globe
● Ability to work in a multiple, concurrent deadline-driven environment
● Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
● PowerPoint/Keynote skills are a plus
● Prototyping skills are a plus
● Proficiency in a foreign language a plus
● Ability to travel when required – domestically & internationally
