UX Architect - Native Mobile Apps

Aquent's Fortune 500 retail client is looking for a UX Architect to work a 1 year contract with high potential for extension on-location in Seattle, WA.

Business Overview:
The Mobile Apps team is a newly created team and office in Seattle, charged with owning all mobile apps including apps on emerging non-PC platforms (Smart TV, Consoles, etc). The primary focus is on smart phone and tablet apps to enable the multi-channel consumer electronics shopper to make better, more confident buying decisions, connect with product information, bridge the online and in-store experience, and activate support and service.

Project Description:
Mobile app UX for adding features to the client's core shopping app, tech support app, and games app across iOS and Android for both tablet and smart phone.

Position Overview:
We are hiring a UX Architect of mobile applications to help innovate the omni-channel customer journey via smartphones and tablets. The UX Architect will work collaboratively with Product Managers and Engineers in a highly agile environment to design talked about customer experiences that surprise and delight shoppers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Understands business, technical and customer inputs to define new and/or changes to existing customer experiences
- Creates deliverables to support the work effort including wireframes, user scenarios, page flows, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluations, journey maps, etc
- Collaborates with other Customer Experience and UX teams to ensure standard design practices are utilized and overall experiences are consistent
- Work with product owners and tech leads to prioritize business, technical and customer requirements in the design of solutions
- Working with product management, designs the user interaction approach for new and/or changes to existing customer experiences within the mobile apps
- Presents designs and articulates approach to gather feedback and approval from all key approvers and stakeholders
- Works with development team in the implementation of UX solutions
- Identifies severity and impact of open defects
- Collaborates within the scrum team with engineers to ensure the technical solution supports the experience requirements, and the overall experience meets design and brand standards
- Works within a matrix organization collaborating with business stakeholders, other customer experience teams, project managers, and other relevant eCommerce teams

The team operates on two week sprints, and aims to have design working at least on sprint ahead of developers. Design teams will work collaboratively with product managers and developers to bring clarity and UX definition to mobile app concepts, and new features. UX managers will deliver sketches to add clarity to ideas, will deliver user flows and wires to add clarity to sketches as they are further validated through user testing, and will delivery final annotated wires as needed.
This team is solely developing native apps and UX teams are expected to understand mobile interaction affordances and needs.

Skills Overview:
- Online portfolio featuring examples of consumer facing native mobile apps and project details to show your problem solving skills for a business problem in a professional work setting including the solution and result. Please make the portfolio is organized and free of errors to provide a good user experience for the hiring manager.
- Bachelor's or advanced design degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years experience with 1 or more years in mobile application/small screen design
- Portfolio of work that demonstrates knowledge and skill in user experience design
- Ability to communicate design concepts effectively, build consensus, and justify decisions

- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Fluent in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, OmniGraffle, etc
- Prototyping experience preferred
- Track record of project execution; completing products on time and on budget
- Knowledge of user experience trends and digital consumer behaviors
- Ability to articulate clear and concise requirements for new products and new features
- Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles with nimble, agile working teams to achieve a common goal

Technology Requirements
1. Design tools – Adobe Creative Suite and/or Sketch – expert knowledge
2. Wireframeing tools such as OmniGraffle or similar – expert knowledge
3. HTML, CSS, JavaScript familiarity – preferred but not required

Soft Skills
1. User-centered design methods
2. Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively
3. Inclination and familiarity with methods for data-driven validation of design choices
4. Familiarity with software development concepts, patterns, and constraints
