UI/Visual Designer

Description:
The Designer, User Interface, will serve as a critical member of our team,
working primarily with the digital product group but also will involve work for sales,
marketing and business development across all core Tribune Publishing
properties.
Reporting to Director, UX and Design, the ideal candidate must be an extremely
self-motivated individual who has experience with complex, large-scale media
sites and who is an ardent evangelizer of progressive design processes and
trends. A self-starter and great communicator, the senior designer will be
responsible for managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and collaborating
with multiple teams.
The perfect candidate is a team player who is excited about great design, lives to
create cohesive online brand experiences that get attention, and loves all things
related to the Internet.
Job Responsibilities:
 Collaborate with the Director, UX and Design, stakeholders, and other
team members to create innovative design solutions
 Take ideas and solutions from concept through design and execution
 Create interactive deliverables including website designs, widgets, emails,
user interfaces, style guides and presentation collateral
 Comfortable designing for multiple platforms that include desktop, mobile
and tablet experience
 Contribute to our creative process and strategic thinking
 Research the appropriate competitors and consider leading design trends
 Deliver pixel-perfect designs and work closely with teams responsible for
development
Your qualifications:
 5-8 years experience designing at a large media company or interactive
design agency
 BA in Art/Design or related field
 A solid portfolio with interactive work examples
 Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, responsive design, and current
development trends
 Strong typographic and layout aesthetics
 A detail-oriented self-starter and able to multitask
 Experience with working on large brands with existing brand guidelines
 GREAT communication skills  UX experience a plus!
 Eye for creating pixel-perfect designs
 Able to present designs to management and effectively communicate
concepts
 Not afraid to take risks
 Ready to lead contract and freelance designers and manage projects with
external resources


NOTES FROM HIRING MANAGER
- Mid to Sr level
- Media background would be a plus
- Responsive Design
- Exp working with apps (iOs/Android) would be a plus
- Exp working on a large company website.
