Our client provides IT services to all customers based in Washington, both internal and external. Web Strategy & Operations (WSO) is responsible for redefining the focus and operations to take full advantage of the Internet to service constituents and to promote the our core values of knowledge sharing, advocacy and community. The objectives and Web Strategy and Operations are to support innovations which improve productivity, enhance public services; reduce spending through technology; encourage standards to support sharing of information within society, business, and for the public, and improving people’s lives through the transforming power of what we do.

Business Initiative and Scope:
The UI/UX Designer will serve to assist WSO staff with supporting the vision and mission. The designer will design and develop great UI with user experience in mind for both web and mobile. Technical expertise in the following areas: UI design, low/high-fidelity prototype, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other emerging website development technologies. The UI/UX designer will report to the Front-end Design/Development Manager and WSO user-experience team members as required.

Job Requirements:
• Confidently translate requirements, use cases, prototypes, and/or abstract conceptual ideas into highly –effective and beautiful user-focused interfaces across a variety of environment (mobile, desktop, web apps, etc).
• Creates and communicates design patterns, standards, and ideas to ensure is inline with industry standards.
• Create unique and inspiring design compositions using visual design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly Photoshop and Illustrator).
• Understand how interfaces integrate with dynamic, Web-based applications and be able to appropriately document the design for integration by the development team.
• Be adept at developing HTML5 templates, CSS files and necessary image assets that meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 guidelines. HTML and CSS code quality is exceptional, semantically correct and easily scalable.
• Have experience with CSS preprocessor such as Sass or LESS, Git/Github, Twitter bootstrap and/or Foundation frameworks is a plus.
• Have some experience with any of the following: JavaScript, AJAX; libraries such as jQuery is a plus.

Position application requirements include:
• This is a mid-senior level position. A portfolio with design samples is required. Samples may include client work, open source project contributions and personal projects. Please provide a portfolio or sample of works with URLs prior to the interview.
