Our client, a dynamic leading Canadian Travel company is seeking a UI/UX Designer for a talent bridge opportunity in the West End of Toronto. As a UI Designer your challenges will include helping analyse requirements to develop sitemaps, wireframes and prototypes across different browsers and platforms geared primarily towards improving our ecommerce websites. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter capable of handling and prioritizing multiple simultaneous tasks, be adaptable to changing priorities and thrive in a high-paced environment. All talent interested in this role MUST provide a portfolio including web-based work (websites, banners, promotions, etc), have experience working in e-Commerce and has a strong understanding user-centric design methodologies (and this must be evident in the portfolio).

Position Responsibilities:

• Design mock-ups, functional wireframes, product/site architecture, page flows and screen layouts with consideration given to user-centred design (UCD) processes
• Ability to produce platform-agnostic designs that allow for cross-browser, cross-platform and device compliant code to be successfully implemented
• Ability to remain current with emerging trends, technologies and applications as related to UI/UX strategies
• Demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills
• Proactively recommend concepts and enhancements in order to continuously improve the electronic brand experience
• Balance business needs against usability and design ideals
• Help conduct usability testing to determine how designs are accepted by end users
• Validate designs with customers and stakeholders in order to drive iterative improvements throughout the development lifecycle
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

Requirements:

• Two (2) to four (4) years of experience specializing in usability and user-centered (UCD) processes
• Degree in Interaction Design, Psychology, Human Factors or related HCI discipline, or demonstrated proficiency and experience in the field of website user interface/experience design
• A current portfolio demonstrating a UCD approach to design and strong problem solving skills
• Ability to design workflows and wireframes (Visio, Balsamiq, Mockflow, etc.), along with mock-ups and engaging user interfaces (Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.)
• Experience with web design and related technologies
• Knowledge of common website design packages in order to produce basic layouts and manipulate images
• Browser testing knowledge (IE7/8/9, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari)
• Experience using website analytics programs/tools
• Familiarity with SEO techniques
• Familiarity with social media and viral marketing concepts
• Superior attention to detail
• Enthusiasm for new approaches and technology
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and complete work within allocated time frames
