If seeing problems and finding solutions through design gets you excited, then this may be your opportunity! Excellent contract to hire position for a strong UI designer with a growing company in Lake Oswego.
We’re looking for a Lead UI/Visual Designer who can bring breakthrough design and branding experiences to life. You'll be working in a fast paced, fun environment, developing an industry-leading platform. The UI designer must have a drive to create fantastic solutions while creating experiences that are simple, clean and elegant for the user. Understanding that the two are always working together to create an incredible experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Lead Developer and Lead Project Manager on design strategy and planning for the creation of use cases, web UI mockups, and user flows for large scale feature projects
  • Design primarily in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote
  • Lead the collaboration of the Software Design team within a cross functional team including engineers, QA, and product managers
  • Act as the tip of the spear with user centric design
  • Help establish and refine the working flow of delivering completed UI, user flows, and all documentation from the Software Experience Design team to developers, QA, and program owners
  • Understand and communicate special considerations or limitations to development team
  • Direct the creation of functional specifications as needed
  • Help create a strong prototype to get alignment on designs
  • Willing to take on internal marketing efforts and presentations when needed.
  • Support project managers with work estimates and planning
  • Identify roadblocks and obstacles with a plan for getting around them

    Must haves:

  • You’re energized by starting towards a far off, foggy direction, and figuring out what it takes to get there.
  • You are comfortable presenting and defending your designs to teams and senior management and handling feedback
  • There are lots of people here that care about one pixel. You should too.
  • You know and can admit when something is not great.
  • You don't have to be a good developer, but you have a strong understanding and respect how software and platforms get built.
  • Must be comfortable gathering and organizing information that translates into usable requirements
  • Start up or other small team experience
  • Strong web/UI experience.
  • Passion for solving big problems with simple well defined solutions.
  • Self‐starter who thrives in a fast‐paced, non‐bureaucratic environment
  • Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Interaction Design, User Experience Design or related field.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in a role with similar responsibilities
