UI Designer

The UI Designer contributes to the definition, visualization, and functionality development of Web content and graphical user interface. This position reports to the Creative Services and Production Manager.

The perfect candidate for this position is a UI Designer who does action scripting and animated GIF work, works quickly and is a CS5 pro. Ideally strong sense of typography, understanding of best practices on touch screen devices. Understanding of responsive design constraints, strong ability in vector work. Can read and decipher flow diagrams.

Responsibilities:
Works proactively and collaboratively with brand, project management, software development, and creative team members to develop elegant, highly useable, and technically feasible design solutions.

- Ongoing redesign, development, and maintenance of web and interactive projects.
- Offers quality creative solutions to internal groups with ability to understand, translate, and synthesize business goals and objectives.
- Visualizing concepts quickly and cleanly through sketching and other rapid prototyping methods (such as Post-It, paper and whiteboard).
- Develops storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Creating of site maps, transaction flows, navigational diagrams and interface schematics, user scenarios, information structures, wireframes, prototypes and written specification.
- Presents design concepts to all levels within the organization.
- Implements corporate web design standards and guidelines.
- Participates in quality assurance checks throughout production process.
- Creates and oversees the maintenance and improvement of a group quality process, effectively manage electronic assets.
- Works collaboratively with designers to define page types and templates for production.
- Works closely with user experience specialist, designers and traffic production specialist to formulate the product concept, interface design, and content presentation.
- Participates in team projects, and assist other team members on ad hoc basis.

Required Skills:
- Knowledge of interface design processes, methodology, and the issues for desktop and internet applications.
- Strong project and people management skills and ability to function as project leader as well as individual contributor.
- Ability to draft a set of wireframes that illustrate the initial flow, layout, navigation controls, and information relationships of the interactive design.
- Must have advanced knowledge of animation tools such as Director and Flash.
- Strong understanding of web standards and practices.
- Ability to collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to deliver client solutions.
- Ability to understand information structures through content hierarchies, site maps, and navigational models that are aligned with the defined user experience and business requirements.
- Ability to write code in raw HTML and an understanding of DHTML.
- Ability to research, understand, organize, and design specialized content.
- Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills .
- An understanding of how market strategy and business operations affect the structure and design of the product solution.
- Must have strong creative, conceptual, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to create creative and technical documents articulating how the proposed design solution addresses the concept, style, brand, tone and functional requirements of the proposed solution.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into interactive experiences through the design.
- Ability to articulate user experience and design principles to team members and clients.


Education/Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in web design (preferably within a creative team)
- Expertise in one or more prototyping tools.
- Familiarity with technology platforms, collaborative, and prototyping tools.
- Proficiency in the following: Macromedia Flash MX, HTML, Macromedia Dreamweaver (or similar), Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.
- Must have a strong design (web and multimedia) portfolio.
